Research results: why glamping is becoming a trend in Ukraine and the world

Ribas Invest, Ribas Hotels Group, and Pro-Consulting have jointly prepared a study of the glamping market in Ukraine and the world, analyzing current trends and prospects of this tourism segment.
Tourists from all over the world are increasingly looking for vacation options that minimize their impact on the environment, which is driving the development of new hotel formats. One of these is glamping, which combines elements of comfort and sustainability.

Glamping in Ukraine began to develop only 5 years ago, when the production of lightweight structures was certified. As of 2021, there were about 35 glamping sites in Ukraine, but the market suffered significant losses as a result of the outbreak of full-scale war in 2022. Many glamping sites were destroyed or relocated.
In 2023, 23 new glamping sites appeared on the Ukrainian market, which confirms the adaptation of businesses to new conditions and renewed interest in domestic tourism. According to the study, as of the beginning of 2024, there were about 60 glamping sites in Ukraine.

Glamping as a part of ecotourism has a positive impact on tourist tax in the regions. Such projects are especially popular in picturesque locations near water, which can increase the average check by 20 – 30%. Glamping sites in Ukraine are located in different regions, including Ivano-Frankivsk, Odesa, Lviv, and Zakarpattia regions. The cost of staying in such complexes varies from 2500 to 4500 UAH per day.

The growing popularity of glamping is part of a global trend, where the global glamping market was valued at $3.4 billion in 2023 and is expected to grow to $10.1 billion by 2033, at a CAGR of 11.5%. The main markets for glamping are the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, China, Japan, Australia, Mexico, and the UAE.
According to Grand View Research, the global glamping market will grow by 12.5% in 2025, reaching $4.8 billion. The glamping market in Ukraine is also actively developing: the number of facilities has increased over the past year, and investments in this segment exceeded $100 thousand for individual projects.

Given the global trends toward ecotourism and mobile solutions, glamping has great potential to become an important part of Ukraine’s tourism infrastructure. This will contribute to the development of domestic tourism, attract foreign visitors, and, of course, the country’s economic recovery.
